Re: Stories needed about Chicago students with IEPs/504 plans. -- Deadline February 21, 2018

In response to a coordinated effort by educational advocacy organizations (including Legal Council for Health Justice) and groups representing parents, teachers and principals, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) has begun a “Public Inquiry” into CPS’s handling of special education concerns. This is great news! But now we are writing to ask for your help:

We need our medical partners to help us collect stories that illustrate how CPS has prevented or delayed the delivery of appropriate services to diverse learners during the last two years.

If you are able to provide us with a statement or if you can recommend families who may be willing to share their struggle to obtain appropriate services, we will gladly work with you or the families to draft a statement/affidavit. We are asking that you share with your families a copy of the attached letter (Spanish is available here) that provides more information and a copy of this Community Input Day flyer.
